Delete your AnswerLift account
You can delete your account and its data yourself, from inside the app. This page is public so you can read it before signing in. Deletion is permanent, it runs immediately, and it is not a deactivation — there is no hidden copy of the account waiting to be restored.
How to delete
- Sign in to your account.
- Go to Settings, then Delete account — the direct address is
/app/settings/delete-account. - Read the summary on that screen. It lists, by name, which of your workspaces will be deleted and which will be handed to a remaining team member.
- Type
DELETE MY ACCOUNTand confirm. The deletion runs there and then and you are signed out.
If you cannot sign in — for example you have lost access to the email address on the account — write to support@answer-lift.com from an address we can tie to the account and we will verify you and delete it. We answer data-rights requests within one month, as UK GDPR requires.
What is deleted
- Your user record: name, email address, profile image and role.
- Your sign-in credentials, active sessions and refresh tokens, so the account cannot be signed into again.
- Every workspace where you are the last remaining member, together with its audits, evidence observations, scheduled prompts, collected provider answers, imported crawler-log summaries and remediation tasks.
- Your membership of any shared workspace, and any invitation you sent or received that has not been accepted.
Deletion happens in a single database transaction when you confirm, so there is no queue and no waiting period. Backups taken before the deletion are overwritten on the hosting provider’s own backup cycle.
What is kept, and why
- Workspaces that still have other members. Those records belong to the remaining team, so the workspace and its content stay and ownership passes to another member. Your name and email are removed with your user record.
- Blog posts you published stay online, with your byline removed.
- Daily traffic-attribution counts. These are aggregate totals per landing page and channel with no visitor identifier attached, so they contain nothing that identifies you and nothing to delete.
- The accounting record of any Visibility Sprint you purchased. The order stays as a financial record under the retention period in our billing terms, but your email address is removed from it and it is unlinked from your workspace, so it no longer identifies you.
- Records of payments taken on a paid plan are kept by the checkout provider and by us for six years from the end of the accounting period the record falls in, which is the retention HMRC requires of a UK limited company, because accounting and tax law requires it. This is the legal-obligation exemption in UK GDPR Article 17(3)(b).
- Analytics events, if you consented to analytics, are held by PostHog against a random identifier rather than your name or email, and are retained for as long as that PostHog project retains them.
Before you delete
- Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription held by the checkout provider. Cancel first — see the billing terms.
- Export anything you want to keep. There is no undo and support cannot restore a deleted workspace.
